Croydon Jazz Band
This fine big band made up of members and ex-members of some of the great British bands past and present and lead by their musical director Bruce Graham provide a treat for lovers of the kind of music Count Basle, Nelson Riddle, Nat King Cole, Sinatra and their like were famed for. It's free on the first Monday of every month and is a rare opportunity to see a fine big band in the relaxed atmosphere of Botley Hill and be entertained by such a fine bunch of musicians. Just to do some name dropping. Pianist arranger and leader of the band, Bruce Graham has worked with the likes of John Dankworth and Phil Tate and was also Frankie Vaughan's musical director for many years. Then who can ignore the great veteran trumpet player Colin Dobson whose career goes back to the Billy Cotton Band and then of course there's drummer John Snow of Ken Mackintosh and Phil Tate fame. There is so much more to tell it we only had the space, try talking to them yourself they're a pretty friendly bunch try arrive early so that you can grab a good table and get to the bar before the band do Make it a date on the first Monday of every month.
