We are delighted to announce that we have added another beautiful historic inn to our little family, having recently bought The Castle Inn at the Tudor village of Chiddingstone.

Only a 25 minute drive across the Kent border from the Titsey Estate and Botley Hill Farmhouse, The Castle Inn is a grade II* listed building. Dating back to the early 15th century, it features many historic features such as the fireplaces, tiled floors, oak panelling and bars.

Located in Chiddingstone, a National Trust village that is considered to be one of the best-preserved Tudor villages in the country, the focus at The Castle will be on warm and welcoming hospitality, quality food and a handpicked selection of wines, spirits and beers.

You can find their latest menu here, which is always packed full of fresh produce, and there are usually some delicious specials to be found on the board.

As well as the historic one-street village itself (over 70 percent of the buildings in Chiddingstone are more than 200 years old), there are a number of wonderful tourist attractions to visit in the area including Chiddingstone Castle, Hever Castle and Penshurst Place. So it's well worth a day trip.

In fact, you can find our ideas for the top 5 days out in Chiddingstone here. You may have even seen the village making headlines on the national news recently too!

Every Good Friday, the village witnesses two teams of 150-ish people attempt to kick, throw, carry and smuggle a football across a pitch that stretches over fields, rivers and through woodland.

A truly epic battle, Chiddingstone Real Football matches can take around four hours to be completed and there are very few rules. One to put in the diary for next year then.

Usually the pace of life is slightly more relaxed than that, however, and this picturesque corner of Kent is a lovely destination to visit at any time of the year.

The Castle Inn is as suited for family bookings and date nights as it is mid-walk refreshments and lunches, and our friendly team at the inn look forward to welcoming you soon - you may even spot a few faces you recognise from your visits to Botley Hill Farmhouse.

  • The Castle Inn can be found at Chiddingstone Road, Chiddingstone, Kent TN8 7AH. Call the team on 01892 870 371 to book a table.
