| Squerrys Court Westerham, Kent. This is a William and Mary
house in countryside setting with an extensive collection of furniture and porcelain
of the 8th century. A house has stood on the site occupied by Squerryes Court,
which lies to the south of the town of Westerham at its western end, at least
since the 13th century, then owned by the de Squerie family. The present house
with its simple symmetrical facade is a well-proportioned example of Anglo-Dutch
style architecture built for sir Nicholas Crisp between 1681 and 1686. |
